The Challenge
Jason Bruges Studio is a leading art collective and interactive design studio that works at the crossroads of technology, architecture, digital intervention and large scale art installation.
The studio was commissioned by Hull UK City of Culture 2017 to create a large public art installation as part of the final season of the city’s focus on culture and creativity.
Harking back to Hull’s heritage as a centre for navigation, Jason Bruges Studio created a striking multi-site installation featuring over 20 large repurposed industrial robot arms fitted with lights, prisms, mirrors and directional speakers. ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ saw the robots re-programmed to perform choreographed ballets of movement, light and sound, juxtaposing new technologies against the town’s medieval architecture and creating a new urban journey of spectacle and discovery.
Our Solution
We worked with the studio to secure coverage across a wide range of media including specialist art, design, lighting and technology publications, as well as national newspapers and radio.
We also worked with leading design organisations and universities to share the project through their marketing and social media channels.
